Cup Semi Finalists 2009
Phoenix Flames started life as a team in September 1983. At that time they were based at Melksham's Christie Miller. A founding member of the team, Mary Harrill, is still very much involved with the club as our Treasurer and Table Official, only hanging up her boots two years ago.
After Melksham the club moved to Devizes for a couple of years before ending up at the Olympiad Leisure Centre in Chippenham in 1992. As Olympiad Flames, the team enjoyed many successes, being runners up and winning the Trophy and Cup competitions. We also had several wins at the Veterans Tournament.
Our Coach Wayne Pascall joined us part way through the 2004/2005 season and he very kindly gives his time, energy and knowledge free of charge.
In September 2005 we joined the Trowbridge Hawks at
St. Augustine's School and became Phoenix Flames. In our first season we won the Trophy but the following summer we lost several longstanding players due to moves, retirement and babies!!
Luckily last year we gained several new players, who have grown steadily in confidence and ability. We are however still looking for new players of any age and ability, to continue developing the squad and growing as a team. We are a very social team and we enjoy the friendships we have made, from being involved with the Flames.
